In Memory of Phoenix Park

Cross Creek Farms mourns the passing of Phoenix Park in June at the age of 22, the victim of two episodes of colic requiring surgery.

In his prime, at 18+ hands tall, a spectacular dapple gray, Phoenix was the most beautiful horse at any horse show. Michelle Parker competed on Phoenix Park up to and including Grand Prix level, with a win in the Rocky Mountain Classic Derby in Calgary, as well as prizes in the International Ring at Spruce Meadows and grand prix competitions in Southern California.

Phoenix was sold and spent several years in the Chicago area, but upon his retirement he was returned to Cross Creek Farms in Tucson, joining other retired Cross Creek campaigners including Wisby D, Rigoletto B, Treffer and Spring.

We remember Phoenix as one of the kindest, most polite individuals in the equine world. In spite of his impressive size, he was light on his feet, careful and a perfect gentleman at all times. Phoenix, we will miss you.
